Resizing Images

Image resizing reduces an image's dimensions to match the area where it will appear. Changing the actual image file is generally better for file size than displaying an oversized image at smaller dimensions with HTML or CSS. For example, serving a 1000x1200 image in a 400x500-pixel area can contribute to slow loading, especially when a page contains dozens of images. Resizing narrows the gap between an image's dimensions and its display area.
