Why train on this tool?
An admin, a tech lead, and four developers sit down for this one, and each of them is watching for something different to go wrong. The admin has already found a seat with no audit trail behind it. The lead has watched Rules go unwritten while Agent guesses at conventions fresh every session. The developers have watched Agent run alone on production code nobody else reviewed, and a Bugbot comment sit unread until it turned into an actual incident.
Cursor's own design is exactly what makes structured training pay off. Tab, Chat, and Agent mode all live in one editor, and the biggest lever on output quality is how well Rules and codebase context are set up before anyone runs Agent on anything that matters. Two structured days are enough to get that right across a whole team at once.

Three roles show up to this training with three different needs
Admins want seats and roles configured correctly, including audit logs. Leads want Rules that hold across every repository. Developers just want Tab and Chat to stop stepping on Agent. The program has to answer all three or none of them stick.
An editor built around AI is not an extension
Cursor isn't Tab completion added to a familiar editor after the fact, because Agent mode edits multiple files in one pass and runs commands once you sign off, a different job from autocomplete.
Rules exist. Few teams have written any
Most teams pick up Cursor and never touch Project or Team Rules. AGENTS.md stays blank too. Without them, Agent guesses at conventions every single session instead of being told once.
Engineers are already running Agent mode solo
Ask around and you'll find people quietly running Agent on production code with no one else watching. Left alone, that habit spreads before anyone decides whether it should.
Bugbot and Agent both move fast. Review has to keep up
