— Hi, I'm Aycan. I'm an account strategist at Google. We're here to talk about Turna.com's successful campaigns on the display network and YouTube. To ask about the brand and the campaign. We've invited Turna.com's founder and general manager Kadir Kırmızı, digital marketing manager Onur Ovalı. And campaign manager Utku Demirhan from Turna's agency ZEO. First off, welcome, everyone.
— Thanks for having us.
— So Kadir, let's start with you. Turna.com launched back in 2015. So it's still a pretty young startup. What sets Turna apart from other flight booking companies?
— Yeah, Turna is new but different. The biggest difference is our marketing approach. It's customer-first and built around creating real value. We build strong relationships with the airlines. That gets us better prices. On top of that, we layer content management and brand partnerships. That's how we win new customers. The biggest thing that sets us apart? Our loyalty program. It's something only Turna has. You earn points on every flight. Then you use them on your next one. Get a discount, or even a free ticket. You can also put your credit card points toward a flight. That pretty much sums it up.
— Thank you. Onur, I want to ask you something. How did your partnership with Google start? And what made you decide to run YouTube for Action and smart display campaigns?
— Turna had worked with Google for a long time already. Mostly on search and search ads. But we hadn't really focused on display or video formats before. Turna has broad goals, so we decided to move into those ad spaces too. We built a performance-focused campaign using Google's tools. The goal was to reach more people and grow revenue. With Smart Display Network and YouTube campaigns, we wanted more conversions on those channels. And stronger brand awareness overall. So we decided to build a new campaign. We'd tap into both campaign types, plus these technologies and opportunities.
— Utku, can you walk us through the campaign setup and targeting?
— Sure. On the YouTube for Action side, we went after remarketing audiences. We also targeted in-market and custom intent users. The in-market audiences covered people linked to air travel. For custom intent, we got more granular. Think users searching for plane tickets. People looking up airlines. And folks searching for schools abroad. The smart display campaign was more about reaching new users. Short term, we worked on building Turna's brand awareness. Long term, the goal was hitting max possible conversion levels. For smart display, we built headlines and descriptions to grab attention. We also made creatives showing off Turna's advantages.
For the Hezarfen's Grandson video campaign, we built supporting visuals and ad copy. That let both campaigns work together and reinforce each other. Both campaign types used target CPA bidding strategies. So we landed conversions right at our target costs.
— How did you get those results?
— Our digital reach jumped 222% year over year from May to July. That came from Smart Display and YouTube for Action campaigns. We also cut our CPA targets by 12%. In August, video campaigns drove a quarter of all our impressions. And they delivered a tenth of our conversions. Our Google Ads campaigns saw a 45% improvement in return per unit spent. That's compared to the previous year.
— One last question. How will this success shape Turna's future?
— First, I have to say this. Google is one of our most important ad channels. Honestly, it's at the very top. We take a data-driven, customer-focused, scientific approach. Google's solutions line up with that perfectly. Especially everything they offer around machine learning. This campaign confirmed Turna's innovative approach. We were really happy to see the video campaign drive conversions. We think this work is a big step forward. Both for the industry and for e-commerce. That's why we plan to keep our Always On strategy going.
— Turna.com is a performance-focused advertiser. They talked about why display and video ads matter alongside search ads. Turna.com is a relatively new player in the flight ticket space. They wanted to grow brand awareness and ticket sales at the same time. So they built smart display and YouTube for Action campaigns. Ticket sales jumped significantly. Their user count tripled. They also improved their Google Ads return on investment by 45%. Thanks to Turna.com and ZEO for joining us. And for sharing their digital ad strategies across different formats.
See you in the next Think with Google success story. Take care.
