Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)

Conversion rate optimization, or CRO, is the practice of improving a website or app so that more of the visitors it already gets end up completing whatever action matters most, buying a product, submitting a form, booking a call, downloading a file, rather than focusing on driving more traffic in the first place.

That distinction is the whole point of CRO: it treats existing traffic as a resource to get more value from, rather than assuming the fix for a weak conversion number is always more visitors. In practice, that usually means testing changes to page layout, copy, calls to action, checkout flow, or form length, and measuring which version actually moves the needle rather than guessing. CRO and SEO complement each other well: SEO is generally the discipline that gets people to a page, and CRO is what determines how many of those people, once there, actually do the thing the page was built for.
