Evergreen Content

Evergreen content is written to stay useful well past its publish date, the kind of piece someone might find and get value from just as easily two years from now as the week it went live. "What is X," "how to do Y," and "tips for Z" formats tend to fall into this category naturally, since the underlying question they answer doesn't have an expiration date.

News coverage, seasonal content, and anything tied to a specific event or trend sit at the opposite end: valuable for a short window, then largely irrelevant once the moment passes. That's not a flaw in that kind of content; it's built for a different job. But it does mean evergreen pieces are the ones worth the heaviest investment in depth and quality, since they keep earning traffic and links long after the publishing cost is paid off. "Evergreen" isn't a permanent label, though. Facts age, tools get replaced, and best practices shift, so even genuinely evergreen content needs periodic review to make sure it hasn't quietly drifted out of date.
