On Page SEO

On-page SEO, also called on-site SEO, covers everything a site controls directly to improve how it ranks: title tags, meta descriptions, heading structure, body content, internal links, URL structure, and image optimization, as opposed to off-page factors like backlinks that depend on other sites' decisions.

It's the layer most within a site owner's control, which makes it the natural starting point for most SEO work: a page can have every technical box checked and still underperform if the title doesn't match what searchers are actually looking for, or the content doesn't cover the topic as thoroughly as competing pages. Good on-page SEO isn't a checklist executed once, either. Search intent shifts, competitors publish better content, and a page's own performance data reveals what's working and what isn't, which is why on-page elements are worth revisiting periodically rather than treated as done the moment a page first goes live.
