Redirect Chain

A redirect chain sends users or search engine bots through several redirects before they reach the intended page. The sequence may happen too quickly for users to notice, but it creates a poor experience for crawlers. Google bots can follow up to 5 nested redirects. If a page loads only after the 5th redirect, they cannot crawl it. Redirects should therefore point directly to the destination. A direct 301 redirect can minimize lost link strength, and removing chains also protects crawl budget.
